THERMOCEM is a polymer-modified, cement-based mortar designed for use in External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) with EPS boards or rock wool. It functions both as an adhesive and a finishing plaster, reinforced with mesh for added strength. It adheres firmly to concrete surfaces, precast panels, and cement plasters, providing flexible, crack-resistant, and seamless wall coverage. Weatherproof and low maintenance, THERMOCEM accepts a variety of decorative finishes. Its excellent impact resistance, high durability, and ability to reduce control joints make it ideal for non-load-bearing façade systems in all climates.

How to Apply Thermocem
Thermocem is mixed with water and used first to bond EPS or rock wool boards, then as a mesh-reinforced base coat over them.
- Prepare the substrate. The substrate must be clean, fully cured and free from grease, oil, paint, curing compound residue and other contaminants. Protect surrounding areas with masking tape and/or plastic coverings, as dried material is hard to clean off.
- Mix. Add a 25 kg bag to 5.0-5.5 liters of clean water and mix with a slow speed mechanical mixer (200-300 rpm) and paddle until lump free. Let it set for about 3 minutes, then lightly re-stir.
- Bond the insulation boards. Apply Thermocem to the back of the board either as 50 mm diameter spots at least 5 mm thick covering at least 50% of the board, or as strips with a 16 x 16 mm square-notched or 13 x 13 mm U-notched trowel. Press the boards onto the dry, clean surface with moderate pressure and leave for 24 hours before subsequent layers.
- Apply the base coat and mesh. Once the board surface is leveled and edges treated, apply a 2-3 mm layer and embed the fiber mesh vertically while it is still green, with moderate pressure and no folds. Working time is 25 to 45 minutes depending on ambient temperature. Reinforce doors and windows with diagonal mesh strips or plastic protection angles.
- Apply the second layer. When the first layer is dry, apply a second layer of not more than 2 mm so that no mesh color is visible. Touch up once all layers are totally dry.
- Cure. Thermocem is self-curing in moderate temperatures. Above 35°C, mist cure with clean water for two days.
- Finish and clean. Apply any exterior finish suitable for cementitious surfaces. Clean all tools with water before the material hardens.
