    Polyurethane Sealant

Megaseal TPU black elastomeric pitch polyurethane joint sealant for fuel resistant joints by MATEX

    Megaseal Tpu

    Elastomeric Pitch Polyurethane Joint Sealant

MEGASEAL TPU is a two-component, pitch-extended polyurethane sealant engineered for heavy-duty sealing applications exposed to chemicals and fuels. It cures into a resilient, watertight joint with excellent resistance to hydrocarbons and sewage degradation. MEGASEAL TPU is load-bearing, weatherproof, and remains flexible under extreme conditions. Available in gun-grade and pouring-grade formats, it is ideal for use in airfields, fuel stations, industrial plants, and sewage treatment facilities. MEGASEAL TPU delivers long-term performance in high-stress environments, ensuring durable and chemically resistant joints that maintain integrity even under severe loading and chemical exposure.

    How to Apply Megaseal Tpu

Megaseal TPU is a two-component sealant mixed on site and poured into prepared horizontal joints.

    1. Prepare the joint. Joint sides must be dry, smooth, clean and free from dust, laitance or loose materials; use compressed air or a wire brush. New concrete must be cured with moisture content not exceeding 4%, and edge defects repaired with MATEX repair products.
    2. Mask and prime. Mask the joint edges before priming. No primer is needed on sound, clean, totally dry joints. Where needed, brush a thin coat of Megaprime (porous) or Megaprime SP (non-porous) on both joint faces before the backer rod, and let it become tack free.
    3. Install backing. Pack the filler or backer rod tightly; rod diameter at least 20% larger, but not greater than 33%, than the joint width. Use polyethylene bond breaker tape in construction or contraction joints, and where hydrostatic pressure exists instead of foamed back-up strips.
    4. Mix. Homogenize Part A (base) with a low speed mixer for one minute, slowly add Part B (hardener) while mixing, then mix at 200-300 rpm for 4 minutes to a homogeneous, lump-free mix. Rest 3 minutes and knock the container with a wooden spatula to release air.
    5. Pour in two stages. Pour from the pail into the joint, first filling about 2/3 and tooling to fill irregularities and release entrapped air. Then apply extra material above the joint edge, filling continuously without gaps.
    6. Finish. Let the sealant settle, remove excess from the joint sides and tool to a smooth finish without soapy water or other liquids. Remove the masking tape immediately after finishing.
    7. Clean tools. Clean tools with Armosolvent immediately after the job and before the product dries.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is Megaseal TPU resistant to fuel and chemicals?

Yes. The TDS lists resistance to fuels, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, dilute acids and alkalis, and recommends it for areas subject to fuel and chemical spillage. For specific chemical compounds, contact MATEX for technical advice.

What is the pot life of Megaseal TPU?

Pot life is 60 minutes at 25°C. Tack free time is 24 hours at 30°C.

What joint widths can Megaseal TPU seal?

Megaseal TPU accommodates ±25% movement in joints 6 to 35 mm wide. Width should be twice the depth for joints over 13 mm, and equal to the depth for joints under 13 mm.

What are the application and service temperatures for Megaseal TPU?

Application temperature is +5°C to 40°C, and substrate temperature should not be below 5°C. Service temperature is -5°C to +80°C.

    How is Megaseal TPU packaged?

Megaseal TPU is supplied as a 4 liter two-part kit. Consumption per linear meter in liters is W x D / 1000, with joint width and depth in mm.
