    SBR Latex Bonding Agent and Admixture

    MEGABOND SBR is a water-based Styrene-Butadiene copolymer dispersion formulated to improve adhesion, flexibility, and water resistance in cementitious systems. It delivers high bonding strength, making it ideal as a primer on low-permeability substrates such as dense concrete or smooth renders. It enhances plasticity and wet adhesion in fresh mortars, making it suitable for sand/cement mixes, screeds, and repair applications. MEGABOND SBR also improves the durability and mechanical performance of mortars under intermittent or continuous moisture exposure, making it suitable for both interior and exterior use in demanding construction conditions.

    How to Apply Megabond Sbr

    Megabond SBR is diluted with water and cement per the TDS dosage table and used as a bonding slurry or as an admixture for mortars, screeds and renders.

    1. Prepare the surface. Surfaces must be sound and free from laitance, oil and grease. Clean hard or deep contamination by mechanical scrubbing or grit blasting to fresh, clean concrete.
    2. Wet the substrate. Thoroughly wet the substrate and remove excess or standing water, which can affect adhesion. For concrete repair, remove damaged parts and protect reinforcement with Lavafer or Lavazinc EP.
    3. Mix. Add the diluted Megabond SBR to the mixer first, then the cement and aggregate, and mix for a few minutes until homogeneous and lump free. Use the dosage table (by weight, product : water : cement : inert), e.g. 1:1:5:15 for screeds and patching mortars, 1:4:5.5:20 for plastering up to 10 mm.
    4. Apply bonding slurry. Mix Megabond SBR with water and cement 1:1:3 by weight and apply as a bonding slurry between old and fresh concrete. Always apply the slurry just before pouring a screed and place the screed while the slurry is still fresh.
    5. Place screeds and renders. Apply screeds with a trowel and steel float to the desired thickness. For renders, mix with cement and 0-2 mm graded aggregates and apply by spray machine or trowel and steel float.
    6. Clean tools. Clean all tools with water before the product fully dries.
