    Polyvinyl Acetate General Purpose Bonding Agent

    MEGABOND PVA is a multi-purpose, re-wettable bonding agent formulated for bonding new concrete, plaster, stucco, or mortar to existing concrete or masonry surfaces. It forms a strong, durable bond even after drying, making it ideal for delayed applications. MEGABOND PVA also acts as a surface sealer and improves the adhesion and workability of plaster and cement-based mixes. It reduces shrinkage, cracking, and water demand while enhancing abrasion resistance and finish quality. Suitable for use with cement boards, cork, roofing felt, and porous surfaces, it provides a cost-effective, versatile solution for a wide range of construction and repair tasks.

    How to Apply Megabond Pva

    Megabond PVA is diluted with water in the ratios given for each use and applied as a bonding coat, slurry, admixture or sealer.

    1. Prepare the surface. The surface must be sound and free from laitance, oil, dust and grease. Clean hard or deep contamination by mechanical scrubbing or grit blasting to fresh, clean concrete.
    2. Prepare repairs and screeds. For concrete repair, remove all damaged parts and protect reinforcement with Lavafer or Lavazinc EP. For screeds, saturate the substrate with water.
    3. Bond plaster. Seal the surface with a bonding coat, then apply the plaster onto the tacky surface. For rendering on smooth concrete, the key coat is water and Megabond PVA at 1:3, and the render is gauged with 1 volume Megabond PVA to 2 or 3 volumes water.
    4. Screed key slurry. Mix Megabond PVA and water 1:2 by volume, make a 1:1 cement and coarse sand slurry, and brush it uniformly onto the slab. Pour the screed while the slurry is still fresh; for the topping mortar use a 1:3 Megabond PVA to water solution.
    5. Seal dusty floors. Apply 2 coats of 1 part Megabond PVA to 5 parts water, then when dry a final coat of 1 part to 3 parts water.
    6. Minor repairs. Mix 1:1 cement and fine sand mortar with a solution of 1 part Megabond PVA and 2 parts water and apply by trowel.
    7. Clean tools. Clean all tools with water before the product fully dries.
