LAVAZINC EP is a high-performance, zinc-rich epoxy primer designed to protect exposed reinforcement steel prior to concrete repair. How to Apply Lavazinc Ep
Lavazinc EP is a two-component zinc rich epoxy primer brushed onto fully cleaned reinforcing steel.
- Clean the steel. Reinforcing bars must be clean of dirt, residue, weak concrete, grease and rust. Clean with a steel brush, or sand blast if that is not sufficient, removing all rust.
- Mix. Mix the two pre-weighed components thoroughly until a homogeneous mixture is reached.
- Apply. Coat the steel immediately after cleaning, using a brush and ensuring full coverage of the rebar or steel surface. Do not apply a thick coat in a single application.
- Second coat. One rich coat is normally sufficient, but two coats are advisable to guarantee protection. Apply the second coat once the first is totally dry.
- Follow-on work. Apply repair mortars once the coat is totally dry. When used as a primer, ensure it is fully cured before applying the finishing top coat.
- Clean tools. Clean tools and equipment with Armosolvent before the material hardens. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
