    Concrete Repair

Lavarep F80 high compressive strength shrinkage free cementitious repairing mortar by MATEX

    Lavarep F80

High Compressive Strength Shrinkage Free Repairing Mortar

LAVAREP F80 is a high-compressive-strength, fiber-reinforced, polymer-modified mortar designed for structural concrete repairs in areas subject to abrasion and heavy mechanical loads. Composed of hydraulic binders, aggregates, and reinforcing fibers, it delivers outstanding durability and adhesion. This single-component, shrinkage-compensated mortar requires only water for mixing and is suitable for vertical, overhead, and horizontal applications. LAVAREP F80 offers thixotropic consistency for easy application without formwork and minimizes cracking during curing. It ensures strong bonding and long-lasting resistance to impact and wear, making it ideal for both structural and surface rehabilitation in demanding repair projects.

    How to Apply Lavarep F80

Lavarep F80 is mixed with clean water and applied by trowel, spatula or mortar spray machine to a prepared, saturated surface dry (SSD) substrate.

    1. Prepare the concrete. Remove all grease, contaminants, oil and loose material using mechanical tools. To avoid feather edging, neatly cut the repair boundary with a concrete saw to a depth of 10 mm, and fully expose all corroded steel including the rear of the bar.
    2. Treat reinforcement. Clean reinforcing steel mechanically, paying attention to the rear of the bar to remove all corrosion products. Immediately coat the cleaned steel with one coat of Lavazinc EP or Lavafer.
    3. Saturate or prime. Soak the substrate with water and allow excess to evaporate or use a sponge to reach a saturated surface dry (SSD) condition. If application must be done in a short period, apply a Megabond SBR slurry bonding coat.
    4. Mix. Pour 3.30-3.75 liters of clean water into a container and slowly add the 25 kg bag. Mix with a spiral paddle on a slow-speed heavy-duty drill until homogeneous and lump free; always add powder to water and do not add extra water.
    5. Apply. Force the mortar lightly into the prewetted substrate with a trowel or spatula: about 5 mm minimum, up to about 50 mm vertical, 20 mm overhead and 5-100 mm horizontal. For a second coat, cross-hatch and roughen the previous layer and let it take its initial set.
    6. Spray large areas (optional). For large repair areas the mortar can be sprayed with a mortar spray machine. Check the gauging water and apply a sample area to confirm consistency and bond before full application.
    7. Cure. Protect the repair from drying winds, sun or excessive heat. Cover with wet hessian cloth and polyethylene sheet for two days, or apply a recommended MATEX curing agent.
    8. Clean tools. Clean tools with water before the product hardens; hardened material can be removed mechanically.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the compressive strength of Lavarep F80?

    Lavarep F80 achieves >55 N/mm² at 7 days and >80 N/mm² at 28 days. Flexural strength is >13.0 N/mm² at 28 days (ASTM C580).

What is Lavarep F80 used for?

It is used for structural concrete repairs where high abrasion and high mechanical strength are required, including bridges, dams, tunnels, highly trafficked transition strips next to bridge joints, marine repairs, industrial floor repairs and pile cap re-profiling.

How much water is needed to mix Lavarep F80?

Add 3.30-3.75 liters of clean water per 25 kg bag. With 3.5 liters of water one bag yields 14.25 liters.

What is the coverage of Lavarep F80?

Lavarep F80 covers approximately 2.0 kg per square meter at 1 mm thickness. Coverage is approximate and subject to site conditions.

What thickness per coat can Lavarep F80 be applied at?

Thickness per coat is 5-50 mm vertical, 5-20 mm overhead and 5-100 mm horizontal.
