Lavapoxy three component solvent free epoxy repair mortar by MATEX

    Lavapoxy

    Three Component Epoxy Repair Mortar

LAVAPOXY is a solvent-free, three-component epoxy-based mortar formulated for structural repair of concrete. Comprising high-quality epoxy resin, a modified curing agent, and graded aggregate filler, it provides exceptional bonding strength, high compressive resistance, and long-term durability. Suitable for vertical and horizontal applications, LAVAPOXY is ideal for interior and exterior repairs of columns, floors, and beams. It resists impact, erosion, and a wide range of acids, alkalis, and industrial chemicals. Pre-weighed components ensure consistent quality and reduce application errors. Its non-shrinking nature ensures dimensional stability and high performance under aggressive service conditions.

    How to Apply Lavapoxy

Lavapoxy is mixed from three pre-weighed components and applied by trowel to a prepared surface primed with Armoprime EP70.

    1. Cut and break out. Mark the boundary of the damaged concrete and cut neatly with a saw cutting machine or disc grinder to a depth of 10 mm; feather edges are not permitted. Chip down to a sound base and fully expose corroded steel including the rear of the bar.
    2. Clean and treat reinforcement. Clean the substrate of grease, contaminants, oil and loose material with a steel brush, using sand blasting on reinforcing steel for deep rusting. Immediately coat the cleaned steel with one coat of Lavazinc EP or Lavafer.
    3. Prime. Prime the surface with Armoprime EP70 solvent based epoxy primer using a stiff brush, applying a second coat once the first is tack free if it absorbs easily. Leave the primer tacky before applying Lavapoxy.
    4. Mix. Stir parts A and B separately for two minutes, add part B (hardener) to part A (base) and mix thoroughly, then slowly add part C (filler) while mixing until homogeneous and lump free. Do not add thinner and do not part-mix the kit.
    5. Apply. Apply firmly with a trowel or spatula to ensure full compaction and bond: 5 mm up to 50 mm in one layer horizontally and 3 to 12 mm vertically. Finish with a steel trowel before the mortar sets.
    6. Build up layers. If more thickness is needed, apply subsequent layers at 8 to 24 hour intervals. If extra layers are applied beyond the re-coating time, prime the surface again.
    7. Clean tools. Clean tools with Armosolvent before the product hardens. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What thickness can Lavapoxy be applied at?

In one layer, Lavapoxy is applied from 5 mm up to 50 mm on horizontal surfaces and 3 to 12 mm on vertical surfaces. Further layers can be added at 8 to 24 hour intervals.

What is the coverage of Lavapoxy?

1.95 kg of Lavapoxy covers 1.0 square meter at 1.0 mm thickness.

What is the pot life and cure time of Lavapoxy?

Pot life is 60 minutes at 25°C. Initial hardness is reached in 24 hours and full cure in 7 days at 25°C.

What chemicals is Lavapoxy resistant to?

The TDS lists resistance to mild acids, alkali solutions, sea water, oils and detergents.

    Does Lavapoxy need a primer?

Yes. The prepared surface should be primed with Armoprime EP70 solvent based epoxy primer and Lavapoxy applied while the primer is still tacky.
