    Epoxy Repair Material

Lavapoxy HS high strength three part epoxy repair mortar by MATEX

    Lavapoxy Hs

High Strength Three Part Epoxy Mortar

LAVAPOXY HS is a high-strength, three-component epoxy-based mortar developed for heavy-duty structural concrete repairs. Solvent-free and non-shrinking, it offers excellent compressive strength, impact resistance, and superior durability under mechanical and chemical stress. Ideal for repairing columns, beams, and slabs, LAVAPOXY HS adheres strongly to all concrete substrates and performs in both interior and exterior applications. It resists a wide range of industrial chemicals, acids, and alkalis. The pre-measured, quality-controlled components ensure consistent mixing, minimizing site errors and guaranteeing reliable results in the most demanding repair environments.

    How to Apply Lavapoxy Hs

Lavapoxy HS is mixed on site from three pre-weighed components and trowel-applied to prepared, primed concrete.

    1. Cut and break out. Mark the boundary of the damaged area and saw cut or disc grind to a depth of 10 mm. Chip the concrete within the boundary down to a sound base, fully exposing corroded steel including the rear of the bar.
    2. Clean substrate and steel. Remove grease, contaminants, oil and loose material and clean with a steel brush; use sand blasting where rusting or contamination is deep. Supplement reinforcing bars whose section is reduced by oxidization with additional bars.
    3. Protect reinforcement. Coat cleaned reinforcing steel immediately with one coat of Lavazinc EP or Lavafer.
    4. Prime. Prime the defected area with Armoprime EP70 using a stiff brush, applying a second coat once the first is tack free if the primer is absorbed easily. Apply Lavapoxy HS while the primer is still tacky.
    5. Mix. Stir parts A and B separately for two minutes, add part B (hardener) to part A (base) and mix thoroughly for a few minutes. Slowly add part C (filler) while mixing until a homogeneous, lump-free consistency is achieved; do not add thinner.
    6. Apply and finish. Apply firmly with a trowel or spatula to ensure full compaction and bond, then finish with a steel trowel before it sets. Apply 5 mm up to 60 mm in one layer horizontally and 5 to 15 mm in one layer vertically; place further layers at 10 to 12 hour intervals and re-prime if the re-coating time is exceeded.
    7. Clean tools. Clean tools and equipment with Armosolvent before the product hardens. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How thick can Lavapoxy HS be applied in one layer?

The TDS recommends 5 mm up to 60 mm in one layer for horizontal work and 5 to 15 mm in one layer for vertical work. For more thickness, apply subsequent layers at 10 to 12 hour intervals.

What is the pot life of Lavapoxy HS?

The pot life of the mixture is 60 minutes at 25°C. Pot life shortens dramatically at high temperature, so shade the working area and tools while mixing and placing.

What is the compressive strength of Lavapoxy HS?

Compressive strength is >80 N/mm² at 7 days (ASTM C579), with flexural strength >40.0 N/mm² (ASTM C580) and adhesion to concrete ≥2.0 N/mm² (ASTM D4541). Full cure is 7 days at 25°C.

What temperature can Lavapoxy HS be applied at?

Application temperature is from +5°C to +40°C. Do not apply where ambient temperatures are below 5°C.

How is Lavapoxy HS packaged and how long is its shelf life?

It is supplied as an 8 kg three-part kit of two metal containers and a bag for part C. It can be used within 12 months of production date if stored properly in unopened original packing.
