Hydrocryl CRC acrylic waterproof and cool reflective roof coating by MATEX, 20 kg pail

    Hydrocryl Crc

Acrylic Based Waterproof and Reflective Roof Coating

HYDROCRYL CRC is a high-build, elastomeric, single-component liquid applied waterproofing and cool reflective roof coating (CRRC) based on APEO-free water-based cross-linked acrylic polymer resins, specifically designed for the Middle East climate. It forms a semi-gloss, odorless membrane that reflects sunlight, reducing roof surface temperatures and cooling costs. Highly flexible with crack-bridging ability, it ensures outstanding exterior durability, UV resistance, and long-term protection even at low temperatures. HYDROCRYL CRC offers excellent adhesion to concrete, galvanized sheets, polyurethane foams, and other roofing surfaces, providing very good resistance to carbonation and ponded water. Its application can help achieve LEED accreditation by promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.

    How to Apply Hydrocryl Crc

Hydrocryl CRC is a ready-to-use single-component cool reflective roof coating applied in a minimum of two coats to a total 1 mm dry film thickness.

    1. Prepare the surface. All surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from loose material, efflorescence, laitance, curing compounds, dirt, oil and grease. Concrete surfaces must be totally cured. Do not apply on surfaces with a risk of rising dampness.
    2. Check the substrate type. Bituminous roof membranes must be clean and free of de-bonding blisters. PU foam must be clean and free of shaving residue, and steel must be cleaned mechanically or by blasting.
    3. Mix. Shake the closed pail, or mix slowly for 3-5 minutes until homogeneous. Leave the mixed material for 2 minutes to let entrapped air escape.
    4. Apply the first coat. Apply by roller, trowel, brush or spray at 1.0 m² per liter at 0.5 mm dry film thickness. On porous substrates or in very hot climates, dilute the first coat with 20% water. Where movement and foot traffic are expected, embed a fiberglass mesh in the fresh first coat.
    5. Apply the second coat. Apply subsequent coats at the same rate, preferably at 90 degrees to the first, to reach a total dry film thickness of 1 mm. Apply an additional coat around penetrations such as pipes and conduits.
    6. Cure before water testing. Run any water test only after 14 days, to allow the membrane to fully cure.
    7. Clean tools. Clean tools with water before the product hardens. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the coverage of Hydrocryl CRC?

Apply at 1.0 m² per liter at 0.5 mm dry film thickness per coat. One 20 kg unit covers approximately 7.5-8.0 m² in a minimum of two coats at 1.0 mm total dry film thickness.

What substrates can Hydrocryl CRC be applied to?

It is designed for concrete, metal (including galvanized sheets), sprayed polyurethane foam and existing bituminous roof membranes, and as a top coat to EIFS systems.

What is the service temperature of Hydrocryl CRC?

The service temperature is -5 to +70°C. It is touch dry in 8 hours.

When can a roof coated with Hydrocryl CRC be water tested?

Water tests should be run after 14 days, to allow the membrane to fully cure.

What is the shelf life of Hydrocryl CRC?

Hydrocryl CRC can be used within 12 months of production when stored unopened in its original 20 kg pail in dry conditions away from direct sunlight and high humidity.
