Elastomeric SBS Modified Solvent Based Bituminous Waterproofing Membrane
HYDROBIT SBS is a high-build, elastomeric waterproofing membrane formulated from modified bitumen, Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) copolymers, and solvent carriers. It offers excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates and cures into a seamless, highly flexible membrane. Designed for superior waterproofing performance, HYDROBIT SBS is ideal for building foundations, kitchen and toilet floors, facades, and roofs. How to Apply Hydrobit Sbs
Hydrobit SBS is a ready-to-use solvent based SBS bitumen membrane, applied in two coats to a 1.0 mm dry film and then protected.
- Prepare concrete. Concrete must be fully cured, dry and free from dust, oil, curing agent residues and other contaminants. Patch voids and honeycombs with MATEX concrete repair products and let them cure.
- Treat cracks and corners. Cover shrinkage and non-moving cracks under 1.0 mm with a 1.0 mm thick strip of Hydrobit SBS extending 50 mm each side. At parapets, columns and pipe penetrations, form a 45° coving fillet with Lavarep F40 and apply a 1 mm reinforcing strip extending 150 mm each side.
- Prepare metal. Clean metal of paint, oil and rust, sand blast or mechanically prepare to bright metal, then wipe clean before priming.
- Prime if needed. Good quality concrete normally needs no primer. On porous surfaces, prime with Hydrobit SBS thinned with 20% solvent; to join onto applications more than 48 hours old, prime the interface with Hydrobit SBS diluted with 10% solvent.
- Mix. Shake the barrel well to mix any settled material.
- Apply two coats. Apply by roller, trowel, brush or spray in two coats to a 1.0 mm dry film thickness. For roller or brush, apply the first coat at 1.0 kg/m² and the second at the same rate after the first cures, preferably at 90 degrees. Embed woven fiberglass mesh strips between coats at cracks, joints, pipes and projections where extra protection is needed.
- Protect the membrane. Do not leave the membrane exposed for long periods. Once cured, apply protection sheets or screed mortar. For tiling, broadcast clean silica sand into the wet final coat and apply tile adhesive after full cure.
- Clean tools. Clean all tools with solvent before the product hardens.
