    How to Apply Fibermat

    Fibermat is rolled into the first coat of a MATEX liquid applied membrane while it is still liquid, then sealed with a second coat.

    1. Prepare the substrate. Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from loose material, efflorescence, laitance, curing compounds, dirt, oil and grease. The substrate must be mechanically cleaned, and grinding may be needed to level it; follow the liquid membrane’s TDS or Method Statement for further preparation.
    2. Prepare the liquid membrane. Fibermat is a sheet and needs no mixing. Prepare the liquid membrane as set out in its own Technical Data Sheet or Method Statement.
    3. Treat details first. Always begin with details before waterproofing the horizontal surface.
    4. Apply the first coat and roll in Fibermat. Apply a coat of the MATEX liquid applied membrane and, while it is still liquid, roll in Fibermat with no air bubbles or creases. Overlap sheets by at least 5 cm, make sure overlaps are wet enough to bond, and press the mat in with a roller, squeegee or brush.
    5. Apply the second coat. Wait until the first coat is dry enough to walk on, then apply the second coat to seal the system.
    6. Clean up. Wet the floor and use a vacuum with a filter to remove fiberglass dust; never dry sweep it. Clean tools as per the liquid membrane’s TDS.
