How to Apply Decofloor metallic Ep
Decofloor Metallic EP is poured in ribbons over a cured epoxy primer, spread by roller or squeegee, swirled for the metallic effect and protected with a clear top coat.
- Prepare the substrate. The surface must be clean, sound and dry, free of dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, waxes and other contaminants, with projections and rough spots dressed off level. Shot blast or use equivalent mechanical means to an open texture (ICRI CSP 3-4), then vacuum with a wet/dry vacuum; the concrete should reach at least 24 MPa in compression at 28 days and 1.5 MPa in tension at the time of application.
- Prime. Prime with Armoprime EP100 two component solvent free epoxy primer, or with a pigmented coat of Armofloor EP500. A white or light primer gives a lighter final appearance and a black or dark primer darkens it; allow the primer to cure before the metallic coat.
- Mix the metallic coat. Add the premeasured Deco Metallic pigment to Part A under continuous mixing until blended, then add Part B and mix with a low-speed drill and jiffy-type mixer until homogeneous. Mix only what can be applied within the 40-minute pot life (at 25°C).
- Spread. Wearing spiked shoes, pour the mix in ribbons over the primed surface and spread with a notched squeegee, gauge rake or roller (3/8″ to 1/2″ nap, phenolic core), cutting in at walls by brush. Back roll after achieving the right coverage.
- Create the effect. Randomly swirl the coat with a smaller roller; spritzing denatured alcohol adds mobility, and compressed air or squeegees can create other effects. If outgassing occurs, use a spiked roller within the first 15–20 minutes.
- Top coat. Allow the finish to dry and cure, then protect it with a finish coat of Epoclear or UV Clear for higher abrasion and chemical resistance. The floor takes light traffic after 24 hours and fully cures in 7 days.
- Clean tools. Clean tools with Armosolvent immediately after use. Let unused product harden in its container and dispose of it according to local regulations.
