DECOFLOOR CH is a colored, factory-prepacked dry shake floor hardener formulated for application over freshly cast concrete. It comprises cement, hydraulic binders, wear-resistant aggregates, UV-stable pigments, and performance-enhancing additives. How to Apply Decofloor Ch
Decofloor CH is broadcast by hand or spreader onto plastic, freshly floated concrete in two or three shakes, floated in, then finished and cured under polythene.
- Check the base concrete. The base concrete should have a minimum cement content of 300 kg/m³, with no calcium chloride and any admixtures such as superplasticizer kept to the minimum dosage. Spread and vibrate the concrete, then level it with wood or magnesium floats before excess moisture appears; do not trowel the surface before applying the hardener.
- Time the first shake. Start when the concrete has stiffened so that light foot traffic leaves an imprint of about 3–6 mm, bleed water has evaporated and the surface still has a wet sheen. Divide the floor into sections of known area so the correct amount of material is set aside for each.
- Apply the shakes. Broadcast the material uniformly by hand, or with machine spreaders on large areas, working the slab edges first. Apply two thirds in the first shake and one third in the second; above 5 kg/m², apply in three stages with half the material in the first. Apply the second shake at 90 degrees to the first.
- Float in. After each shake, float the surface thoroughly so the material penetrates. Do not trowel between the first and final shakes, and never sprinkle or add water to the surface; the moisture must come from the concrete.
- Finish. Once the surface has hardened sufficiently, finish as desired using magnesium floats and stainless steel or blue steel trowels. For decorative finishes, hand trowel or use a lightweight power trowel rather than power floating machines; stamping mats can be used to create stone or tile patterns.
- Cure. For internal applications, cover the floor with polythene sheet taped at the edges; covering with impermeable sheets for the first 24 hours is recommended. Curing agents are not recommended on concrete that will later be stained, and must be compatible with any sealer to be applied later.
