Armoscreed SD quick-drying ready-to-use cement screed mortar by MATEX, 25 kg bag

    Armoscreed Sd

Quick-Drying, Normal Setting, Ready-to-Use Screed Mortar

ARMOSCREED SD is a quick-drying, normal setting, pre-blended mortar designed for fast, efficient floor screeding with controlled shrinkage and high thermal conductivity. Based on special hydraulic binders and selected graded aggregates, it offers excellent compatibility with all cementitious substrates and simplifies site work by requiring only water for mixing. ARMOSCREED SD is highly trowelable, accepts subsequent finishes easily, and delivers strong substrate bonding. Its high thermal conductivity makes it especially suitable for heated screed installations, while consistent material quality ensures reliable performance even in areas where good aggregates are hard to source.

    How to Apply Armoscreed Sd

Armoscreed SD is mixed with water only and laid as a bonded screed (10 to 80 mm) or an unbonded screed (35 to 80 mm), then compacted and floated.

    1. Prepare the substrate. Concrete should have been placed for at least 28 days and be sound, clean, dry and free from loose material, efflorescence, laitance, curing compounds, dirt, oil, grease and any contamination that might impair adhesion. Remove contamination or excessive laitance by grinding, captive blasting or sand blasting, and repair with a MATEX concrete repair product where needed.
    2. Mix. Mix mechanically with a low-speed drill mixer (200–300 rpm) and paddle, or a vessel mixer for large production. Pour the clean water into a container (1.72 liters per 25 kg bag as stated in the TDS), add the powder and slow-mix for 5 minutes until uniform and lump-free; add no further water.
    3. Bonded screed: prime. For a bonded screed 10 to 80 mm thick, apply Armoprime AC at 4 to 6 m²/lt and lay the screed while the primer is tacky. Alternatively, apply a slurry of 1 volume Megabond SBR, 1 volume clean water and 1 volume fresh cement as a continuous 2–3 mm layer with a large flat brush, scrubbing brush or trowel, and lay the screed while the slurry is still fresh.
    4. Unbonded screed: isolate. For an unbonded screed 35 to 80 mm thick, no primer is needed: soak the concrete with clean water and let free water disperse, then lay the screed on an isolating layer of polythene sheet or similar. Where there is rising damp, place a separating or damp-proof membrane over the substrate first.
    5. Place, compact and float. Set out the floor with guides and mix enough for the area to avoid multiple casting times. Spread to the desired thickness and compact and level carefully, as Armoscreed SD is not self-levelling, then give final touches with an aluminum float or helicopter floating machine once it has initially set. If work is interrupted, insert steel rods 20 to 30 cm long, 3 to 6 mm in diameter, 20 to 30 cm apart, into a cut perpendicular to the substrate.
    6. Protect. After casting, protect the floor from direct sunlight, high winds or rain. The screed is set to light foot traffic after 12 hours.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long before tiles can be laid on Armoscreed SD?

Armoscreed SD is ready for ceramic tiles after 24 hours, natural stone after 2 days, and parquet and resilient flooring after 4 days. It is set to light foot traffic in 12 hours.

Can Armoscreed SD be used for underfloor heating screeds?

Yes. Armoscreed SD has high thermal conductivity (λ = 2.008 W/mK), which makes it suitable for heated screeds without the need for plasticizers.

What thickness can Armoscreed SD be laid at?

Bonded screeds are laid 10 to 80 mm thick and unbonded screeds 35 to 80 mm thick.

What is the coverage of Armoscreed SD?

Armoscreed SD covers approximately 18–20 kg per square meter at 1 cm thickness, depending on compaction. Coverage is approximate and subject to site conditions.

What are the application and service temperatures for Armoscreed SD?

Armoscreed SD is applied at 5°C to 35°C and has a service temperature range of -30°C to 90°C. Workable time is 60 minutes.
